School Security concerns spread after the conclusion of the Devious Licks Challenge.
Tik Tok Challenge 'Devious Licks' has not only caused concerns on the premise of vandalism and destruction of school property but, also on school security.
The 'Devious Licks' trend objective is to record stealing school property. The more heinous the better. The male's bathrooms received the most repercussions with items such as soap dispensers stolen.
The aftermath of this trend has been the most importunate. Librarian Rhetha Lawlor said while she didn't see the trend first hand, she "heard of the ramifications of it."
In response to the challenge, Principal Kane wrote, "...the bathrooms will reopen with an extensive monitoring plan to help prevent this vandalism from occurring. "
However, Senior Jamilia House says that efforts to avoid this should have already been taken. "It is silly to say that I don't feel safe that a bathroom stall was stolen. But, there is a bigger issue considering that someone could as easily steal something within the school and make it out. Something as large as a stall should have been caught by security, a teacher, or even a student."
The Devious Licks challenge like all trends has ended, but the implications have sparked new conversations about if students are actually safe within the confines of their school.
