Chloe and Theo is a unique and inspiring film that shares that unlikely friendships can change the world! Caring and helping with the environment is very crucial and this film brilliantly portrays this message.
A homeless female, Chloe and an Inuit named Theo build a relationship after getting a life changing message in order to save the world. Despite being total opposites and a difficult, yet hilarious adventure, both Chloe and Theo create an unbreakable bond in order to finish the mission successfully.
Chloe (Dakota Johnson) is my favorite character in this film. She is an all around, well-rounded actress and her acting brings so much to this complex character. There is so much character development with Chloe, we see how she grows and matures as a person. Her character is someone I see many people relating to. The Innuit, Theo (Theo Ikummaq) essentially playing himself captures his very own culture with what seems like little to no acting. His own portrayal of his very own cultural and heritage makes the film heartfelt and more personal for audiences to watch. Even though Chloe portrays a homeless woman, her clothing was done very well for the audience to know exactly what her circumstances are. Theo’s clothing, to my knowledge did justice to the Artic peoples culture by showing the traditional wear of an Innuit. The music and score from start to finish was incredible! Every funny scene, serious scene or even dialogue filled scenes matched perfectly with the tone of the characters, the settings and more. My favorite scenes throughout the film were all of the educational aspects. While much of the film is based on fictional storylines, there are many cultural aspects and environmental aspects that I learned just by watching this film, an experience you don’t have often with many movies. The overall message in this film is to be open minded to different people and possibilities. If Chloe had rejected the opportunity to help carry out the message to save the environment with Theo, then she would not have been able to be a hero or make a difference. Despite their differences, they looked passed this and decided to see the bigger picture. A lesson I encourage all to learn from.
I give Chloe and Theo 5 out 5 stars and I recommend this for ages 10 to 18, plus adults. Chloe and Theo releases just in time for Earth Day, April 22, 2022 on DVD. Don’t miss it!
